We weren’t really sure the best timing for publishing the next edition of GO AZTECS! Then the Aztecs rebounded from a sluggish start in 2015 by roaring to 10 straight victories, the MW Championship and a huge 42-7 Hawaii Bowl win over a good Cincinnati team. The Rocky Long Era definitely needed showcasing. So a new edition became a must-do right now!

OK, much of the history of the 770 games I have seen is essentially the same. But records have been updated, many new Ernie Anderson photos have been added; an impressive array of facts and figures chalked up by the 2015 team is spelled out; the Rocky Long Era is discussed at length. And the new cover showcases photos of Aztec stars spanning the time from the 1940s to this season. Overall, it’s about 30 pages longer than before.

If you saw the big feature story in USA TODAY (circulation, 3.3 Million), touting the Aztecs as live prospects for a New Year’s Bowl bid, you know that we are now starting to be in the national spotlight. The next day USA TODAY named D.J. Pumphrey a 2016 Heisman candidate

As I have said from the beginning, this book is not written to be a best seller. Rather, I just wanted to capture in print my memories of all of the games I have proudly seen since 1946, to share them with other Aztec fans.  After the setback I had with ear infections, which prevented my flying to the Hawaii Bowl, I’ve now been cleared by doctors and, more importantly, by Rocky to make the road trips and be on the sideline with my Aztecs again this Fall. More later about what will make our trip to Mobile for the game with South Alabama, October 1, so extra-special for me.

Rocky’s Aztecs will probably dictate when it’s time for the next update; meanwhile, I am happy we did this one. GO AZTECS! is available now on Amazon
