At first glance, Wyoming looks like an “easy” win. I think I saw it described as a “breather,” if there is such a game. The road to upsets is paved with such thoughts, so it’s dangerous to get over-confident.
Sure, Wyoming is 1-9, but they have one of the best two or three running backs in college football: Brian Hill, who has rolled up 1,327 yards so far. That means we should see a lot of running because, of course, we have DJ Pumphrey and he has 1,031 yards in one less game. And I suspect we have a better rush defense than the Cowboys do.
Their only win was over Nevada, 28-21, and there have been only two common opponents on our schedules. Wyoming lost to Colorado State, 26-7, and the Aztecs beat CSU, 41-17. Wyoming lost to Utah State, 58-17; we beat USU, 48-14. The betting lines have the Aztecs favored by as much as 24.
The only numbers that count are the final score. Make sure you are there to support our Aztecs.
